Little Gems with Big Southern Spirit

At Wrights Market, nestled in our 1938 cottage where the walls are filled with stories and the front porch always has room for one more, we believe beauty doesn't have to be big or fussy to be meaningful. Our Assorted Succulents are proof of that—tiny treasures that thrive with simplicity, yet bring joy and charm to every sunny windowsill, garden shelf, or kitchen ledge.

Succulents have a rich history that spans centuries and continents, from the arid deserts of Africa and the Americas to the stone courtyards of ancient Rome and quiet monastery gardens. Each one has evolved to store water in its thick, plump leaves—making them symbols of endurance, quiet strength, and renewal.

Whether you’ve picked a rosette-style echeveria, a chubby haworthia, or a trailing sedum, these little wonders bloom best with bright, indirect light and infrequent watering. Some may surprise you with dainty flowers in the spring or summer, but even without blooms, their forms and colors speak for themselves—soft greens, dusty purples, pale blues, and coral tips that look kissed by the sun.

They love dry air, warm days, and a little bit of love now and then. In return, they’ll stick with you through thick and thin—just like good Southern folks do.

Care Tips:

  • Light: Bright, indirect sunlight (a sunny window or porch is perfect)

  • Water: Let soil dry completely between waterings; less is more

  • Humidity: Thrives in dry conditions; no extra humidity needed

  • Soil: Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix

  • Toxicity: Varies by type—best to keep out of reach of pets

Companion Plants We Love:

  • Aloe Vera – for its healing history and upright form

  • Jade Plant – a symbol of luck and long life, perfect with succulents

  • Kalanchoe – for blooms that brighten up a succulent mix

  • String of Pearls or Hearts – adds soft, trailing texture

Plant them together in a farmhouse bowl, line them up on a sunny windowsill, or gift one to a neighbor “just because.” These sweet succulents may be small, but they carry the kind of lasting charm we believe in—simple, soulful, and made to thrive with just a little care.

From our home at Wrights Market to yours, may these little lovelies bring peace, beauty, and a gentle reminder that even the smallest things can hold the biggest joy.
