Citrus Calamondin Bush | 8” Pot
A Little Tree with Big Southern Spirit—Bright, Cheerful & Full of Life

At Wrights Market, nestled in our 1938 cottage where mornings begin with front porch coffee and laughter echoes through the screen door, we’re drawn to plants that do more than decorate—they nourish the soul and remind us of life’s sweetest moments. The Citrus Calamondin Bush is one of those cherished treasures. With its glossy green leaves, fragrant white blossoms, and petite orange fruits, it brings a burst of sunshine and joy, no matter the season.

Originating as a natural hybrid between a mandarin orange and a kumquat, the Calamondin has long been grown across the Philippines, China, and throughout the Southern United States. It was introduced to the U.S. in the early 20th century and has been a porch favorite in the South ever since. Though its small fruits are tart, they’re packed with flavor—used in marmalades, teas, or simply admired for their vibrant beauty.

This citrus bush doesn’t just look good—it symbolizes abundance, cheer, and resilience, blooming with creamy white flowers and producing fruit nearly year-round in the right conditions.

Care Instructions:

  • Light: Loves bright, direct sunlight—ideal for a sunny patio, porch, or large indoor window

  • Water: Keep soil evenly moist, allowing the top inch to dry slightly between waterings

  • Humidity: Prefers moderate humidity; mist occasionally if grown indoors

  • Soil: Use a well-draining citrus potting mix or general potting soil with added sand or perlite

  • Fertilizer: Feed monthly during growing season with a citrus-specific fertilizer

  • Growth Habit: Compact and bushy; typically grows 2–4 ft indoors

  • Blooming & Fruiting: Fragrant white blooms can appear several times a year, followed by small, bright orange fruit

Perfect Companions:

  • Rosemary or Lavender Topiary – aromatic and structured, complementing citrus beautifully

  • Aloe Vera – soothing, sun-loving, and texturally contrasting

  • Lemon Button Fern – adds softness and lush greenery beneath citrus foliage

  • Hoya ‘Krimson Queen’ – a trailing, variegated beauty that pairs well with a citrus centerpiece

Whether it’s brightening a breakfast nook or adding Southern flair to a front porch, the Citrus Calamondin Bush brings warmth, fragrance, and a little zest to everyday life. From our family at Wrights Market to yours, we hope this joyful little tree brings you sweet reminders of abundance, growth, and the goodness that comes from tending what we love.
