This cultivar was bred in Europe as part of a groundbreaking effort to bring boxwoods back to gardens without the worry. As its name suggests, ‘Renaissance’ is a revival—a new beginning for the beloved boxwood, offering improved blight resistance and strong, healthy growth.

With its tight, upright habit and deep green evergreen foliage, this variety brings structure, form, and timeless beauty to garden beds, borders, and formal designs.

‘Renaissance’ thrives in USDA zones 5–9, perfectly suited for life in the South. It prefers full sun to part shade and grows in moist, well-drained soil. Reaching approximately 3–4 feet tall and wide, it forms a dense, naturally rounded to upright shape—ideal for low hedges, foundation plantings, or adding a bit of Southern polish to cottage pathways.
