Aloe Vera | 4” Pot
A Healer from the Past with a Heart for the Present
Here at Wrights Market, nestled in our 1938 cottage where the screen door still sings and neighbors drop by with cobbler and kind words, we love our plants to come with stories—and Aloe Vera brings centuries of them. This humble yet mighty succulent is as Southern as sweet tea and just as soothing, known and loved for her healing ways and steady, no-fuss spirit.
Aloe Vera has roots that stretch back thousands of years, treasured in ancient Egypt, Greece, and beyond for her soothing gel and gentle medicinal uses. She found her way into Southern kitchens and front porches generations ago, often sitting in a sunny window, waiting patiently to comfort a burn or soothe sun-kissed skin.
With her upright, fleshy green leaves lined in soft ridges, Aloe grows best in bright, indirect sunlight—though she’ll gladly soak up some morning sun on a windowsill or porch ledge. She's drought-tolerant and thrives on a “less is more” approach to watering. Just let her soil dry out completely before giving her a good soak.
While she can bloom—producing tall spikes of tubular orange or yellow flowers—it’s rare indoors. Still, she doesn’t need blossoms to shine. In plant symbolism, Aloe represents healing, protection, and enduring love—a living reminder of comfort, care, and resilience.
Care Tips:
-
Light: Bright, indirect sunlight or gentle direct morning sun
-
Water: Water only when soil is completely dry
-
Humidity: Prefers dry conditions; no extra humidity needed
-
Soil: Fast-draining cactus or succulent mix
-
Toxicity: Mildly toxic if ingested—keep away from pets and little ones
Perfect Plant Companions:
-
Echeveria – soft rosettes that complement Aloe’s upright leaves
-
Kalanchoe (pink or coral) – adds cheerful color beside Aloe’s cool green
-
Jade Plant – another time-honored succulent symbolizing good fortune and balance
Place her on a kitchen windowsill, a sun-soaked porch rail, or your bathroom shelf—anywhere you want a little reminder that comfort and care don’t have to be complicated. Just like home.
From our family at Wrights Market to yours, may this Aloe bring a little healing, a lot of heart, and a timeless kind of love to your home.
