Add rich, year-round color to your landscape with the Purple Pixie® Loropetalum. This dwarf evergreen shrub features deep purple foliage, a graceful cascading growth habit, and bright pink, fringe-like flowers in the spring. Its low-growing, spreading shape makes it beautiful along retaining walls, slopes, garden borders, and pathways. It also looks stunning spilling over the sides of containers and raised planters.

Sunlight

Plant in an area that receives full sun to partial shade. At least four hours of direct sunlight each day will encourage richer purple foliage and more flowers. In especially hot locations, morning sun with some afternoon shade is ideal.

Watering

Water deeply immediately after planting. During the first growing season, keep the soil consistently moist but never soggy while the roots become established. Check the soil regularly and water when the top 1–2 inches begin to feel dry.

Once established, Purple Pixie® is moderately drought tolerant but will look its best with occasional deep watering during hot or dry weather. Plants grown in containers may require more frequent watering because pots dry out faster than garden beds.

Care Instructions

Plant in loose, well-draining soil and avoid areas where water collects. Apply a 1–2 inch layer of mulch or pine straw around the plant to help retain moisture and protect the roots, keeping the mulch away from the main stem.

Fertilize once in early spring with a balanced, slow-release shrub fertilizer. Purple Pixie® naturally maintains its compact, cascading shape and requires very little pruning. Trim only as needed after its spring blooming period.

Perfect for groundcover, containers, slopes, mass plantings, garden borders, and year-round landscape color.
